It has been a week since I have been physically present in California, but my romance with California began at the age of 21 ,roughly than 5 years ago.
I don’t know how it started or when it did. I would pick up books related to California published by National Geographic and the Lonely Planet, not even hoping but dreaming to explore this place that I believe is nothing less than paradise.
I moved to the United States in 2017 but even then I had always known deep in my heart that I wanted to be in California. Even before I moved to the States in August 2017, I had started saving money to be able to travel to California in December of 2017. I wanted to see, is the place really as majestic and beautiful as they portray in books . I wanted a feel of the place…I explored the place in books with a childlike obsession.
Some people might think California became my obsession, a safe place for me to fantasize and a form of escape perhaps? I gained no materialistic pleasure by being in California. As soon as I came here, I became much calmer. I did not feel the need to post on Social Media platforms. Reflecting on my experience even now, I believe California is my calling. I am meant to be here, grow my roots and settle with nature.
Fast Forward two years, we are in 2019, I have been blessed with a job in California. ……and as I have achieved my dreams, I would like to dedicate my life to writing and spreading the word about everything , food, travel, shopping , lifestyle related to California.
